Title Sequence Typography
Since the late 1950s, film title sequences have often been a showcase for contemporary design and illustration. The title sequences of Saul Bass and Maurice Binder are among the best examples of this though they inspired many imitators both in cinema and on television.

Classic Sci-Fi and Fantasy
Came across these amazing book cover designs whilst looking for science book references on flickr.  SEE THE LOT These really are mind-blowingly good and sweating with inspiration. Another of his Flickr pages worth checking out; collection of vintage logos from a mid-70’s edition of the book World of Logotypes.

London buses can do no wrong
London’s iconic double-decker buses are getting a design upgrade. Scheduled to go into service in 2012, the new bus boasts a more “light and airy feel inside the bus” due to extensive use of glass, including 2 big windows along the staircases, and a “hop-on, hop-off” platform. Check out the quick virtual tour:

Pininfarina Fiat Abarth 2000 Scorpio concept car
We wish we knew more about this car other than its name and that its got more curves/sex appeal than we’re comfortable with.. I think that a guest post from my father who’s an automotive consultant (and job in my eyes is to know about things like this) is in order. Expect a re-post.

Rey Giese, working since 1935
90 year old Rey Giese was born in 1919. He has been working out of his San Jose shop in the back of his house for over 25 years and has been lettering signs since 1935. Just love the fact that he has dedicated so much of his live to painting signs and something as beautiful as hand painted type and signage it makes us utterly inspired/jealous.

TIMEX. Remember them? You should, as like most kids you probably had a TIMEX watch when you were at primary school, which you’re parents deemed as a better and more importantly cheaper* version of a CASIO. *(which meant you wore it swimming) Well luckily for all of us TIMEX have re-released their classic 80s designs and because you had one as a kid for some reason buying one now seems...

Well you might be thinking ‘have Wes Anderson and Tom Ford adopted a child who grew up and made a video for Oliver People?’ and to be honest we think your probably right. (Also in an another turn of surprising events you would never think that Shirley Manson the girl in the video was the singer from the 90s pop rock band garbage)
