Mon 30th Nov Spotify Playlist by Devil Sold His...
To kick off our weekly featured artists spotify playlists (whew, lots of long words in there) this week UK band Devil Sold His Soul stepped up to our hopefully enjoyable Recuperate stage. Described by Kerrang as “devastatingly apocalyptic, thrilling, unique and utterly brilliant” and by Metal Hammer as “Sounding as epic as a natural disaster” they’re certainly worth...

Mid Century Modern - Sticker, Label + Stamp Club http://www.flickr.com/groups/mid_century_modern_labels/pool/ I love this era of design. It largely discarded the “lifelike” aesthetic for a more graphic and often abstract approach. A style abundantly found in the crooks and crannies of 50’s design and this highlights it beautifully.

John Peel.
As i write this its pretty late and i realised that i miss staying up late accompanied to the comforting voice of the late John Peel on the radio. The BBC have up online some of his infamous sessions, sadly not quite all of them but details of every session ever recorded are there (which is good for some further google searching) If you ever find yourself up late and fancy exploring some new...

Children's Book Illustrations
I’ve been off from posting  so I proper went for it with this woolly mammoth post. Thousands of children have learned to read with the aid of busy, colorful, generously illustrated books. But what these artists do is more than just helping kids read. With their bright illustrations, simple text, and gentle lessons on sharing and tolerance, their stories have also helped kids grow up and...

Getty Images - HD Archive Footage
I attended a presentation last night at the Getty Images Oxford St gallery about their extensive collection of archive footage, ranging from the early silent films of the 1900’s to the backstreet boys of the 1990s that Getty Images now has. The evening was presented by Josh Rucci, the senior director of footage and he gave a very insightful and knowledgeable commentary showing rare (but...

LEICA á la carte!!
Ok this might be old news but seriously we did not know that you can customise your own Leica MP or M7 camera! SERIOUSLY. If you don’t know much about camera’s Leica are pretty much regarded as the holy grail of photography and what most photographers either want or will steal for (no joke there) ..unless they’re after more of a cult camera like a Yashica. Leica will taunt...

A great FREE thing to do - The Museum of...
www.musevery.com Approaching the Museum of Everything a home made sign caught my eye it said ’everything’ in felt tip and was badly positioned in a flower pot, instantly making the inner hand made/low-tec bit inside of me very happy and was the starting point of everything that i had hoped ‘The Museum of Everything’ would be. If you enjoy finding your self in a place...

Simon Pyke/Freeform
freeform.co.uk I always feel that great sound design(ers) gets a bit overlooked in the big wide world of visual design and i feel and hope thats its not a taboo/generalisation in saying its rare to hear people comment on the sound design for television/motion graphics which is a bit of a shame as theres loads of really cracking stuff out there. One of my favourite sound designers is Simon Pyke...

ilovehotdogs.net We all know someone who looks a little bit like this. I physically want to mold his face and treat it like bread dough, bake it and then eat it all up, only then will i be happy to take my eyes off Mick Hucknall’s chlamydia. This is a clip from Mask 1985. Go on the website and see loads of stills from cult movies. Its updated weekly as well.

We love a good bit of photography, especially when a few sharks are thrown in for good measure. Wayne Levin’s ambient underwater shoots are definitely worth a quick glance through make sure to check out his black and white shots for some serious drama and power. waynelevinimages.com
